Kolkata assault case began after confrontation over a teenage relationship

Police said the girl’s father and uncle allegedly took the 18-year-old and his friend to their home after learning about the encounter. The two teenagers were reportedly assaulted, and the 18-year-old was allegedly forced to call his father to the location.

When the father arrived, the group allegedly assaulted him as well. A senior police officer said the victims were threatened with being shot if they refused to remove their clothes. The three were then allegedly forced to walk naked for approximately 50 metres along the lane outside the house.

The allegations have placed the Kolkata assault case under scrutiny, particularly over claims that the victims were threatened with a firearm and publicly humiliated. Police have not confirmed recovering a weapon, and the allegations remain subject to investigation.

Three family members arrested as police investigate firearm threat

Following a complaint filed by the 18-year-old’s father, police registered a case under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The reported charges include attempt to murder, voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt using dangerous weapons or means, wrongful confinement, defamation, criminal intimidation and kidnapping.

Police have arrested the girl’s father, mother and uncle in connection with the Kolkata assault case. Officers said efforts were continuing to identify and apprehend other people allegedly involved in the assault.

All three victims have undergone medical examinations. According to police, they told investigators that they had been threatened with a firearm. However, police have not yet recovered the weapon.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the neighbourhood and recording statements from people who may have witnessed the incident. The evidence collected will help establish the sequence of events and each person’s alleged role.

Probe continues as police examine evidence and eyewitness accounts

The investigation into the Kolkata assault case is continuing, with police working to corroborate the victims’ accounts through medical findings, CCTV footage and witness statements. The alleged use of a firearm remains an important aspect of the probe, given that officers have yet to find the weapon described by the victims.

The circulation of a video on social media has also drawn attention to the incident. However, the allegations against the arrested individuals must be established through the legal process, and the investigation will determine the precise circumstances surrounding the assault.

Police have indicated that further arrests may follow as they pursue the remaining alleged accomplices. The case raises serious questions about the use of violence and threats to resolve a personal or family dispute. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the alleged assault, confinement and forced public humiliation of the three victims.
