Cristiano Ronaldo is closing in on one of the biggest milestones in football history. The Al Nassr captain took his career tally to 985 goals after scoring a hat-trick in his side’s 5-3 victory over Al Kholood in the Saudi Pro League on October 29. With 15 goals still needed to reach the 1,000 mark, the Portuguese superstar has a limited number of matches left in 2026 to achieve the feat.

Ronaldo scored three times in the second half, finding the net in the 66th, 72nd and 81st minutes. The treble was the 67th hat-trick of his professional career and took his goal tally for the calendar year to 27.

At 41, Ronaldo continues to add to a remarkable scoring record. His immediate target is clear: find the net 15 more times before the end of December and become one of the first players to reach 1,000 official career goals.

December brings further challenges, with Al Nassr set to take on Al Kholood in the King’s Cup, followed by league matches against Al Fayha, Al Hilal and Al Fateh. The club also has an AFC Champions League Elite fixture against Al-Gharafa and a Saudi Super Cup semi-final against Al Kholood.

Ronaldo could also add to his tally while representing Portugal. The national team is scheduled to face Denmark on November 14 and Wales on November 17 in the remaining UEFA Nations League group-stage fixtures.

That means the forward will need a particularly productive run over the next two months. Scoring braces and hat-tricks could help him make up ground, but he will still need to maintain a high scoring rate across club and international football.

His recent performance against Al Kholood offers an indication of what he can produce. Ronaldo scored three times in just 15 minutes, turning a closely contested match into a 5-3 victory for Al Nassr.
