Her resistance activities eventually led to her arrest. She was imprisoned at Ravensbrück concentration camp, where she endured the final years of the war before returning to France.

After the war, Catherine reunited with Christian in Paris. Around the same period, Christian was preparing to establish himself as a fashion designer and was also developing his first fragrance.

The fragrance was initially known by the working name Corolle, a French word associated with the petals of a flower.
The name Miss Dior emerged when Catherine entered the room during the fragrance’s development. A friend of Christian reportedly referred to her as Miss Dior, and the name stayed.
The fragrance subsequently became closely associated with Christian Dior’s debut couture collection in 1947, when the perfume filled the salon alongside the flowers decorating the space.
