There may not be any major weather disturbance, but scattered rain is likely in parts of West Bengal over the next few days. With Durga Puja approaching, the weather in Kolkata and across South Bengal is expected to remain a mix of sunshine, clouds and occasional showers.

Early mornings may see a thin layer of fog in some areas. As the day progresses, bright sunshine could give way to sudden cloud cover, followed by light to moderate rain. The Alipore Meteorological Office has indicated that broadly similar conditions are likely to continue over the next few days.

After October 7, the influence of the monsoon is likely to reduce further, potentially bringing down rainfall activity. During this period, night temperatures in the western districts of the state may remain slightly below normal. However, no major change is expected in daytime temperatures.

Low-pressure system may affect Puja weather

The weather could change again in the second week of October, when a low-pressure area may develop over the Bay of Bengal. According to the weather office, the system could increase rainfall over South Bengal.

During the first three days of Durga Puja, coastal and western districts may receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms. Gusty winds of around 30–45 kmph may also occur in these areas.
